When Greece became a holiday destination in the sixties and seventies, there was a sudden influx of blond, Northern European women. Kosta Rapadopoulos, a very distinctive documentary filmmaker, travels through his home country on a quest for the fabled ‘Kamakia’: the heroes of the islands, who sacrificed themselves to meet the special needs of these ‘foreign’ women. Behind their amorous anecdotes lies the story of the meeting of two cultures: the Greek male, who grew up within classic Greek-Orthodox and patriarchal structures and the increasingly emancipated, self-confident Northern European female.
