An elderly baker, a woman in her menopause who bakes as a hobby, a young criminal cake seller and a 15-year-old girl, about to take part in the most important celebration of her life. The four heroes in “Agridulce” are not really heroes at all. They all love the huge blue and pink meringue cakes that are a sweet status symbol in Cuban society, yet their everyday lives are bitter. Shot on a wind-up Bolex, the film tells four stories of the search for freedom and financial independence.
