In order to escape the bustling city of Cologne, Karsten has created a cozy music studio in his tiny, one-room apartment. But he moved in without a proper rental contract. Real estate manager Wennmacher plans for renovations and kicks him out into the street. Nethertheless, Karsten keeps cool and makes an unusual plan: putting his mattress into his moving truck, turning it into an improvised home. In the heat of summer, the van offers a unique place to maintain. Sitting in the same boat, Sophie and Miray join Karsten’s nomadic lifestyle. The small setup seems ideal. What. was supposed to be a liminal space for a couple of days turns into months. But the stress of closeness and the chill of autumn are approaching. The trio splits up, but Karsten stagnates. While strolling around the streets, he stumbles into his drunk ex-landlord Wennmacher, who doesn’t even recognise him. Sensing a strange opportunity Karsten pretends to be successful in the housing business too.
